Sydney Harbour Surf Club started in 2016 with the idea to eliminate the problem of transporting and storing one’s Surf Ski.  Sydney Harbour Surf Club provides the Surf Ski, paddle, lifejacket and coaching which has made the sport of Surf Ski paddling more accessible to the public. Sydney Harbour Surf Club is successfully encouraging more people each year to Surf Ski Paddle and to live more active, healthier lives. We continue to build a sporting club atmosphere where people can exercise and socialise with other like-minded people. They feel a belonging to a club where they proudly wear the club merchandise and compete for their club at local/state and overseas events.

Founder and Head Coach – Luke Horder B.H&M(Spt.) Luke Horder has become an icon in the fitness industry over the past 10 years where he has been the Health & Fitness expert for media publications such as Beauty Heaven, Women’s Health & Fitness, Cleo Magazine and currently aligned with Men’s Health magazine. Luke is also the expert personal trainer for the world-wide book and DVD seller, “Get the fat outta here.” Luke has a Bachelor Degree in Human Movement in Sport, the highest qualifications in Personal Training, with specialised qualifications in Older Person Training, Level 1 Surfing Coaching, AusSwim Swim coaching, Level 1 Boxing Instructor and the highest award in Surf Lifesaving, The Gold Medallion. Besides extensive experience as a Fitness Instructor, Luke has lead the way and competed in some of the toughest endurance races around the world, such as:
  • The Molokai World Championships paddle in Hawaii (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 3rd place relay category 2017)
  • Circumnavigation of Manhattan Island, New York (48km) on a Surf Ski
  • Surf Ski paddled the 50km “Catalina Crossing”, California
  • Surf ski paddled the “English Channel” from the wider route (48km)
  • Set a Guinness World Record for the fastest kayak time across the “North Irish Sea Crossing” from Ireland to Scotland
  • Set a Guinness World Record for the fastest kayak time of the 34km Loch Ness, Scotland
  • Summited Mt. Aconcagua, Argentina (7000m) in 2012.
  • Coolangatta Gold – Longest Endurance Ironman Race in the world (6 x times, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018)
  • Australian Full Triathlon Ironman Port Macquarie
  • Hawkesbury Classic 110km Endurance Paddle (1st place Spec ski category)
  • Gloucester Mountain Man Challenge (5 x times, with a 4th place in 2015)
  • Akuna Bay Adventure Race (6th place in 2014)
  • The Perth (27km) Doctor Ocean Surf Ski race (2015, 2017)
  • 100km Ultra Marathon (placed 17th)
  • Sydney Marathon (7 x times, best time 3 hours 15 mins)
  • First person to Surf Ski/Cycle through 3 countries all in one day. (Surf Ski paddled from Germany to Denmark (24km), then cycled 100km through Denmark towards Copenhagen before then paddling to Sweden (25km)
  • First person to Surf Ski/Cycle through 4 countries all in one day. (Surf Ski paddled from Switzerland to Germany, then continued paddling Germany to Austria, before cycling from Austria to Liechtenstein.)
  • Longest wave caught by Surf Ski with a total distance of 13.66km on the Bono wave, Sumatra, Indonesia.
  • Sydney Harbour Series 2018 (1st Double Surf Ski)
